Horsham stalwart Jack Strange is moving on to pastures new after almost four years with the club. The popular centre-back made his debut on Boxing Day 2022 against Bognor Regis Town and departs having made 173 appearances for the Hornets, contributing 9 goals.

Strangey played in many memorable games in that time, being a key member of the best defence in the Isthmian League in 2024-25, as well as playing in both of the Hornets’ Sussex Senior Cup Final victories at the Amex.

He was also part of the history-making ‘centurions team’ that played on the last day of the 2025-26 season against Chippenham Town, in which every member of the starting lineup had made over 100 appearances for the club.

Never less than fully committed, Jack produced some outstanding individual displays, including keeping Andy Carroll quiet in the Hornets’ fantastic victory at Dagenham & Redbridge last season, despite suffering a bad shoulder injury early in the game. He also showed his creative side with the defence-splitting pass that opened up Barnsley for Tom Richards’ dramatic late equaliser in the 3-3 draw at Oakwell that probably ranks as Horsham’s finest ever performance. One week prior, he had scored both goals in Horsham’s 2-1 win over Larkhall Athletic in the FA Trophy in monsoon conditions.

Smilin’ in the rain

Manager Dom Di Paola is certainly in no doubt about the centre-half’s contribution to the club’s successes over the past four years.

“Jack’s been a big part of Horsham, part of so many good days. He’s not played as much as he would have liked this season because Ryan [Bartley] and Brivs [Jack Brivio] have barely conceded a goal when they’ve played together.

“We wish him well in his next move and he’ll always be welcome at Horsham.”
