While most of us were still tucked up in bed yesterday morning, perhaps contemplating the afternoon’s visit of Merstham, Horsham’s U12s were early risers as they set off to Brighton to begin a 22 mile fundraising walk from the Seagulls’ Amex Stadium back to our own Camping World Community Stadium.

The youngsters are hoping to raise £3,000 to help fund a planned European tour in 2022, and were aiming to make it back to Hop Oast in time for kick-off, so plenty of incentive to make the 7am start. Led by coach Jamie Irving, assisted admirably by several hardy parents and volunteers, the group eventually made it back to the ground for half-time where they were given a terrific reception by the fans as they walked around the pitch (see below).

A bucket collection was made and Jamie and his squad would like to thank everyone who helped swell their funds by £189, leaving them over half way towards their target.

Brilliant effort. The lads then went on to win their tournament the following day at the Camping World Community Stadium which was attended by over 400 participants, coaches and spectators.
