Horsham’s ‘homecoming’ ended in disappointment yesterday as League Two Crawley scored five times without reply in a rather one-sided pre-season friendly.

A crowd of nearly 900 attended the Hornets’ first home match of 2021 but the majority left disappointed after the Reds scored three times in the first half, through Tom Nichols, Jack Powell and Sam Matthews, and added two more after the break from Jake Hessenthaler and Tyler Frost.

Dom Di Paola’s side, which was missing a number of first team regulars, struggled to create any clear cut chances and were given a comprehensive work-out on a blazing hot afternoon at the CWCS.
