There may have been no meaningful football played at The Camping World Community Stadium since November, but that doesn’t mean that we’ve been resting on our laurels.
Quite the contrary in fact, as club officials and volunteers have continued to work hard to secure a Covid-safe environment in which to welcome our loyal supporters back next season.
Since the outbreak of the virus in 2020, we have taken huge steps to make the CWCS ‘Covid compliant’, undertaking a comprehensive risk assessment that led to the introduction of procedures such as visitor temperature checks, clearly defined markings to aid with social distancing inside the clubhouse and around the ground, track and trace, and the installation of hand sanitisers.
And we were delighted to discover that our efforts have not gone unnoticed, after receiving accolades from two of the UK’s leading lights in the hospitality industry. The World Travel & Tourism Council have issued the stadium with its official UK mark ‘We’re Good To Go’, a new initiative awarded to tourism and hospitality businesses that have adapted their operations in line with Government and Public Health England guidance and have a COVID-19 risk assessment in place to aid staff training, social distancing and maintain cleanliness.
By receiving this accolade, it puts us in the company of such esteemed venues as The National Gallery, Globe Theatre, Wembley Stadium, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Brighton’s Palace Pier, and, by our reckoning, makes Horsham Football Club the only club in the Isthmian League’s four divisions to have earned this award, something of which we are extremely proud.
Similar to the WTTC, the AA‘s new COVID Confident Assessment Scheme supports the hospitality industry in re-establishing and rebuilding consumer confidence as we head out of lockdown by virtue of passing a series of stringent criteria.
The club would like to extend its thanks to everyone who has helped us achieve these accolades, in particular Paul Osborn, Colin Young, Kevin Baxter and Annie Raby.
Of course, this not only means that spectators can return to the CWCS confident that every effort has been made to ensure their safety whilst attending matches, but also that the venue is a clean and secure environment in which to hold business meetings, wedding receptions or any kind of function.
