Frustrated at our inconsistent start to the new campaign, Dom Di Paola has brought in former Carshalton Athletic centre-half Danny Dudley to help shore up a defence that has kept just one clean sheet thus far.
Dudley, 29, had spells at Chipstead and Whyteleafe earlier in his career before coming to prominence at Corinthian-Casuals, with whom he was a losing play-off finalist in 2017.
“Danny’s been at Carshalton for the last couple of years or so, and captained a very good side up there, so I’m really pleased to get him on board” admitted Dom. “He won promotion with them a couple of years ago and helped them get to a play-off final so he’s a quality player with bags of experience.
“With Razor (David Ray) not playing because of injury and Dylan with his groin hanging off, hopefully he’ll be the replacement we’ve been looking for for Joe Shelley. People forget that Will Miles is only 24 so it will be great to get someone of Danny’s experience alongside him to help organise things.”
In a twist of fate, Danny should make his Hornets debut against Corinthian-Casuals tomorrow night.
