The Hornets have missed the big hitters yet still face a testing tie in the second round of the Sussex Senior Challenge Cup, having been paired with free-scoring Division One South East side East Grinstead Town.

Dom Di Paola will have been delighted to have avoided the likes of Eastbourne Borough, Brighton & Hove Albion and fellow Premier Division sides Bognor Regis Town and Worthing but will be wary of the threat offered by the Wasps, who had scored 17 goals in six games, prior to Saturday’s 1-0 FA Trophy reverse at Sittingbourne.

The two sides last met in February 2019 when they fought out a goalless draw at College Lane but, despite having come up against each other almost forty times, they have only been pitched together once in this competition, back in 1970, when Barry Steer (2), John West and John Ford scored Horsham’s goals in a 4-1 victory.

That is a tough draw. E G have a squad full of experienced players who have played at a much higher level than the league they are presently in. Danny Waldren, Jay Gasson, Clohessy, Beckles, Amoo and Louis Theophanous are all top players on their day but I am sure Dom will have em fired up for this one. This is the one cup I would love us to win.
Looking forward to this game, It should be a cracker.
