Dom Di Paola revealed he is happy he’s now got a settled team ahead of this weekend’s Isthmian Premier Division fixture away to Leatherhead.
Providing Storm Dennis doesn’t scupper our plans, we’re set to make our first competitive trip to Fetcham Grove in almost six years against a Leatherhead side bang in form.
The Tanners have only lost twice in their last ten games and haven’t tasted defeat in over a month.
Meanwhile, the Hornets have also picked up some form of their own with victory over Haringey Borough last weekend backed up by a 5-0 thrashing of Burgess Hill Town in the Velocity Trophy midweek.
And manager Di Paola claims this is down to being a more ‘settled’ side. He said: “We don’t what the pitch is going to be like, it could be good or awful, but we’re pretty settled again now.
“We had this state of flux where we had players coming in and out with injuries and unavailability but we’re settled now and we’re always a better team when we are.
“The boys are enjoying their football, and enjoying being together as a group so I’m sure they’ll be bang up for it on Saturday.”
Leatherhead have had a complete squad overhaul since our meeting on the opening day of the season back in August when Rob O’Toole cancelled out Eddie Dsane’s penalty as the teams settled for a point.
Di Paola believes the much-changed team will make things even more difficult.
He added: “They’ve changed their team around loads since we played them first game of the season.
“They’re always a threat and the way they play is really hard to play against and obviously they’re in great form so it’s going to be another tough game.”
Di Paola revealed that we should have a fully fit squad although Harry Mills may be doubtful with a hamstring injury.
Although the game hinges massively on the weather, we hope to see as many of you making the short trip as possible to cheer on the lads. We will, of course, keep you updated on the probability of the game going ahead on our social media channels.
