Horsham welcome opponents Hastings United to the CWCS tomorrow night for what will be a tussle between the teams occupying 3rd and 4th spots in the Bluefin Sports Insurance Development League table. Our opponents have 20 points from 9 games against the Hornets total of 18 points from 11 games played.
The away encounter, back in late October, resulted in a comfortable 4-2 win for Hastings but will be remembered as an ill-tempered, feisty, affair with three players sin-binned for dissent and one shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle. In fact, during the latter stages of the match there was a spell in which it was eight Hastings players versus ten for Horsham! I’m sure I speak for everybody in hoping that we will not see such ill-discipline in this return fixture.
However it’s sure to be competitive as a win for the young Hornets would be a real feather in their caps, seeing as our opponents have only been beaten once so far this season, losing 2-0 at home to Faversham way back on 2nd September. A win for Horsham would also see us leapfrog our opponents in the table.
Hastings will, no doubt, be a tough nut to crack though, often fielding several players who have a lot of experience with their first team, who are currently the runaway leaders in the BetVictor Isthmian South East Division. The young Arrows are well coached and have the meanest defence in the division, having conceded only 10 goals. However Mark Hawthorne’s side are confident and are on a run of good form themselves, going six matches unbeaten.
It is sure to be an entertaining match, so why not come along tomorrow night to lend your support and check out our young talent. It’s also terrific value for money at just £4 admission for Adults and £2 Seniors and Children.
