We make the short trip across the border into Surrey when we take on surprise Isthmian Premier Division strugglers Merstham on Saturday.

Just eight months after suffering a 2-0 play-off final defeat to Tonbridge Angels, the Moatsiders have been in complete freefall.

In pre-season, they were tipped by many for another play-off charge yet they’ve found 2019/20 a far tougher affair.

Currently sat in 20th with just 15 points, the Weldon Way outfit look set to be stuck in a relegation dogfight this time round, having just taken four wins from their 25 league games.

To make morale worse, the Hornets’ opponents come into the fixture off the back of their biggest defeat of the season – a 6-1 demolition to league leaders Worthing.

And though a similar scoreline is unlikely, Dom Di Paola’s travelling squad will be licking their lips at the chance to test themselves once more.

Back in October, the Hornets put in one of their best performances of the season, with a resounding 4-0 home win in the reverse fixture.

Charlie Harris, Rob O’Toole, Chris Smith and Lea Dawson were all on the scoresheet then, and all are set to be fit to make the squad once again.

Kick-off at The Whisky Bible Stadium (RH1 3QB) is at the usual time of 3pm, and supporters unable to make the short journey north can keep up to date by following our Twitter account @HorshamFC.
