The turkey and all the Christmas goodies were run off today as Horsham’s Youth squads were in action at home and away.
With not too much rain this past week, most of the squads were optimistic of getting their first run-out of 2020 although there was disappointment when the news came through from Crawley Down Gatwick that their pitch was unplayable, leaving the U14s kicking their heels. Thankfully The Camping World Community Stadium was a hive of activity, with people enjoying their breakfast and catching up after the festive break before settling down to enjoy the U11s’ Arun & Chichester Development League victory over Bognor Regis.
Then it was the turn of our U15 Greens, who ran riot against Lancing Rangers with two goals apiece from Harrison Bradley, Harrison Hay and Keylan Symonds, along with an effort from Samuel Berry, seeing the league leaders to a 7-1 win.
Away from home comforts, our U13s made sure the long trek to Selsey wasn’t in vain as they returned with a 5-2 victory in which Bailey Moyo and Harvey Marshall each scored twice and Callum Mitchell once to move the Hornets above today’s opponents and into second place in the Arun & Chichester League. U15 Amber weren’t quite so fortunate, though, as their hopes of capturing the County Cup were ended at East Grinstead Town who booked their place in the semi-finals with a narrow 1-0 win.
There was better news from our U16s, who followed up their opening day victory over Cuckfield Cosmos by recording a league double over them, thanks to goals in the final ten minutes from Diego Carmo, Aden Radojevic and Harvey Woolard in a 3-1 success.
