After a stomach-stuffing Christmas Day, the time for giving will be put on pause as we make the short trip down the road to closest rivals Worthing on Thursday.
Dom Di Paola’s Hornets have had a week to rest and prepare for one of our biggest games of the season with more than just bragging rights at stake as either side could go top of the Isthmian Premier with a win.
Horsham returned to winning ways in their last league outing with a 1-0 win over East Thurrock United, who are incidentally the last side to have beaten Worthing.
The Mackerels are the most in-form side in the division, taking 16 points from their last six games in an unbeaten run stretching back to October 5.
Their red-hot form has seen them climb up the table with Adam Hinshelwood’s side sitting in second – one place, and one point, above ourselves.
The Boxing Day fixture will be the first competitive meeting between the teams in exactly four years when a disastrous performance saw us concede five goals at home without reply.
But much has changed since then, and, with a fully fit squad to choose from, Di Paola will be chomping at the bit to see us record another memorable win in a terrific season.
Because a large crowd is expected, we strongly advise all supporters making the trip to park at nearby Worthing High School, South Farm Road, BN14 7AR, within walking distance from Worthing’s Woodside Road ground.
