Horsham’s youth section enjoyed a bumper Sunday, winning six and drawing the seventh while scoring 51 goals in the process!
The U11s showed terrific determination in their Winter Cup (Cedar League) tie at Chichester City, overhauling a three goal deficit to emerge victorious thanks to goals from Sam Abrehart (2), James Dodd, Owen Strudwick and Sammy Painter, and there was another tight affair for the U12s as they hosted Lancing United in the semi-final of the Arun & Chichester League Cup. Level at 1-1 at full-time, the Hornets scored three goals without reply in extra-time to set up a final with Felpham Colts at Lancing’s Culver Road on March 29th. Horsham’s goalscorers were Adam Gregory, Jack McMillian, Callum Webb and Ryan Allen.
Markos Panoutsos scored twice, and Callum Mitchell once, as our U13s were held to a 3-3 draw at Predators in the Arun & Chichester League but the U14s enjoyed a far more one-sided affair when they hosted Division B side AFC Crawley in the Mid-Sussex League Cup quarter-finals, scoring 18 goals without reply to book a last four pairing with either Crawley Down Gatwick or Mile Oak. Eleven players got their names on the scoresheet, with Alfie Maguire leading the way with four, George Bowler helping himself to three, Cameron Joste twice and Stan Berry, Oliver Randall, Luke Harrison, Joe Sherwood, Zac Jeanes, Nathan Jones, Jack Hayes and Mackenzie Mortimer all finding the net.
Things went to form at Angmering where leaders Horsham U15 Greens consolidated their place at the top of the Division B table with a 7-2 defeat of basement side Angmering Village. The team worked hard on a heavy pitch and got their rewards through goals from Max Fizsimmons, Tate Stowell (2), Sam McMinn, Harrison Hay and Adam Fitter. U15 Amber were also up against a bottom of the league side in Uckfield Grasshoppers and, after a slow start, they soon got into their stride and ran out 6-0 winners with the goals coming from Alfie Clifford (2), Charlie Gibson, Nico Massimo, Zain Beg and Conner Collcutt to keep them top of the Mid-Sussex League table. Completing the set are our U16s who also had a great day at the Camping World Community Stadium, where four goals from Ben Auberey sent them on their way to a 8-0 win against local rivals East Grinstead Town. Aden Radojevic (2), Tom Ayling and Gui Costa also chipped in with goals to ensure that they, too, top their division.
We would like to express our thanks to all those that gave their support from the sidelines today on a chilly Sunday.
