Sunday 24th November
Mid-Sussex League Division One
Striker Conner Collcutt starred as Horsham comfortably defeated their local rivals at the Camping World Community Stadium. On a day when several consistent performers were off-key, Collcutt gave a demonstration in finishing, netting four times.
Amber dominated the early exchanges and opened the scoring when Zain Beg latched on to a through ball and finished in emphatic style. Collcutt doubled the lead when he bought himself a yard of space and drilled home from outside the box, a trick he repeated to put Amber 3-0 up at the break.
However, Amber were not at their fluid best and it was no surprise when manager Tony Massimo made changes. Collcutt grabbed his hat-trick after Nico Massimo’s effort hit the woodwork, and then added a late fifth. But overall the second half was a more even affair. Heath scored a fine breakaway goal when Luke Roberts lobbed Will Scurr, and it was the least the visitors deserved.
Horsham were occasionally guilty of wayward passes which caused frustration among the players, but it was still a comfortable victory which ensures Amber remain title contenders.
