Frustrated at a lack of first team action for the Hornets today? Then fear not as we have a quartet of matches lined up for you at The Camping World Community Stadium tomorrow where Horsham’s Youth sides will be waiting to entertain you after one of our famous hearty clubhouse breakfasts!
Getting us underway at 10am are our U11 Autumn Cup winners, who will be looking to take another step towards claiming the Winter Cup when they take on Worthing United Strikers. The two sides are the only ones in their group to boast a perfect record after their two opening round matches so something has to give tomorrow. Hopefully your support will inspire our youngsters to win the day.
At the same time, on the main pitch, U15s (Amber) host local rivals Broadbridge Heath Juniors hoping to take advantage of leaders Premier United’s ‘day off’ by securing the victory that would take them to the top of the Mid-Sussex League Division One table. The Hornets are unbeaten in all competitions this season, winning nine and drawing the other, but have had to battle hard in each of their previous two league matches in which they drew with Rottingdean Village and only narrowly scraped past Peacehaven & Telscombe last weekend. However, they did enjoy a comfortable victory over Broadbridge Heath back in September and will go in to the match as firm favourites, with the Bears yet to win a match this season.
Our U12s will be looking to bounce back from last week’s mauling at the hands of runaway leaders Felpham Colts when they host Storrington Community in a match switched from our opponents’ ground due to the Swans’ pitch being waterlogged. Horsham sit three places and two points clear of Storrington in sixth spot but face a visiting side whose tails will be up after winning away to Worthing Minors last time out.
Our final ‘home’ offering comes courtesy of Ben Pugh’s U13s, who have a tough task against second-placed Midhurst & Easebourne United. Midhurst have won three of their four league matches to date but Horsham will take confidence from the fact that they are the only side to have put a dent their opponents’ fine start to the league campaign when they enjoyed a 6-3 success at Dodsley Grove back in September, helped by five goals from Callum Mitchell. A similar result tomorrow would see the yellows leapfrog Midhurst, albeit having played two games more.
Away from the Camping World Community Stadium, arguably the stand-out fixture of the day will be at second-placed Loxwood, who welcome Ian Scott’s league leaders in a top of the U15 Arun & Chichester League clash (ko 11am). The Greens suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend, in going out of the League Cup on penalties, but have a 100% league record after seven matches, while Loxwood’s only blemish to their season came on an opening day defeat to the Hornets! A pitch inspection is planned for 08:30 tomorrow. ** UPDATE ** Match postponed due to a waterlogged pitch
With our U14s putting their feet up tomorrow, our only remaining side in action is our U16s who make the relatively short journey to Cuckfield to face the local Cosmos United side in another repeat of the opening fixture of the season (ko 12:30pm). Then, two goals by Aden Radojevic and one from Jamie Todd secured the Hornets a 3-2 victory that provided the springboard for Dixie Laker’s squad to challenge for the title while, in contrast, Cosmos remain rooted to the bottom with just a solitary victory from their first seven games. However, with just two outings since the end of September, Cuckfield will want to make up for lost time and will no doubt be keen to start climbing the table as quickly as possible. ** UPDATE ** Match postponed due to a waterlogged pitch
