Dom Di Paola believes his side are under ‘absolutely no pressure’ in what has been his ‘least stressful season so far’ ahead of Tuesday night’s visit of Cray Wanderers.
Cray were promoted as Isthmian South East champions last season, romping home to finish eight points clear of the second-placed Hornets.
The Wands have made a decent start this campaign, currently sitting in seventh, and are the only team other than Enfield Town yet to lose away from home in the league.
Dom said: “It’s a good challenge. They’re a great side and on a good run. It’s always nice to try and test yourself against top teams like that, and who are used to the 3G.
“It’s going to be a good game and we’re looking forward to it. At the moment we’re not worried about teams, nor are we going into games expecting to win so it’s quite a nice feeling.”
He added: “We’re under absolutely no pressure at the moment. We’re just playing games and seeing how we get on. It’s probably the least stressful season that we’ve had at Horsham. We’ve just been ticking along nicely without any expectations either way so it’s been really enjoyable.”
Harry Mills is expected to return to the squad after he picked up an injury at Bishop’s Stortford ten days ago and, while Kieran Lavery and Will Miles are both returning to fitness, neither are expected to be fit enough for Tuesday’s game.
The last ‘home’ game between the pair last season ended in a stunning 4-2 win for the Hornets, inflicting the Wands with their first league defeat of the season. And, if tomorrow’s game comes anywhere close to the drama of that torrential day in December, then we will all be in for a treat.
