Football underneath the floodlights returns to Horsham on Tuesday night, as top-of-the-table Horsham hope to continue their mightily impressive run when we take on Carshalton Athletic at the Camping World Community Stadium.
Hornets manager Dom Di Paola has had a successful weekend, winning the Bet Victor Manager of the Month Award for September which he followed up by beating Hornchurch thanks to a 1-0 victory which saw the hosts leapfrog their visitors on Saturday.
Despite the result, Di Paola said after the match on Saturday that he wasn’t going to get too carried away after seeing his side go top and although he admitted his delight at keeping a clean sheet and watching his team grind out another fine win, he insisted there was plenty of football left to go this season.
The manager will undoubtedly want to keep that momentum going as his side prepare to take on The Robins, who are currently eighth in the division. Finishing as runners up last season, Athletic were unlucky not to have earned a second promotion in as many seasons, ultimately losing in the play-off semi-final to Merstham. Speaking ahead of the game he revealed he was wary of the threat posed by Carshalton who he said have began to find their rhythm after a slow start.
Horsham will be hoping that their guests are still distracted from their FA Cup exploits, after Ricky Korboa’s brace on Saturday fired them into the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with The Robins finding out on Monday that they will face a tricky looking tie against National League side Dagenham & Redbridge.
Speaking of the FA Cup, Horsham’s last encounter against our visitors on Tuesday night was a memorable trip to the War Memorial Ground in Surrey, as Horsham knocked the reds out of the world’s oldest cup competition thanks to a stunning free kick from Charlie Harris three minutes from the end.
Horsham fans will be hoping for similar heroics when our game gets underway at 7.45pm.
