After the senior side’s FA Cup exertions last weekend, this time its the turn of our youth teams to hit the trophy trail with our U13s, U15 (Amber) and U16s all in cup action tomorrow.
Leading us off are the U13s, who entertain Withdean Youth in the 1st round of the Les Kempster Challenge Trophy (County Cup). Withdean play in the second division of the Sussex Sunday Youth League in which they have a similar record to Ben Pugh’s Hornets, having won one and lost one so far, but defeated Division One Eastbourne Rangers 4-1 in the League Cup last Sunday. This match will kick-off at 10:15am on the Jack Scrase Community Pitch. At the same time, on the senior pitch, U15 (Amber) host Crawley & Maidenbower Panthers in the Mid-Sussex Youth League Cup and will go into the match as clear favourites, sitting top of Division One while Crawley are second in Division Three.
Staying with the cup theme, Dixie Laker takes his U16s to Seaford to take on local side Premier United in the Mid-Sussex Youth League Cup. The two teams are also opponents this season in Division One, with Premier still looking for their first win of the campaign having been beaten four times in their opening five matches. Meanwhile Horsham will want to bounce back after suffering their first setback last weekend when they went down 2-1 at home to Eastbourne Borough.
In the league, our U12s travel to Chichester City looking to secure the victory that would move them off the foot of the Arun & Chichester League Division One table at this early stage of the season, and there’s a ‘top v bottom’ clash at Sompting Rec’ where Ian Scott’s second-placed U15 (Green) take on bottom of the table Lancing Rangers.
Our U11s were in action last night when they defeated Chichester City under the lights to go top of their Coral Cup group. Our U14s are without a match this weekend.
A reminder to anyone attending either of the two matches at The Camping World Community Stadium tomorrow morning that a full breakfast menu will be available from 10am.
