Dom Di Paola insists tonight’s match will be a ‘massive challenge’ as the Hornets look to record their first win of the season at Bognor Regis Town.
After Rob O’Toole notched his first goal of the season on Saturday, to ensure we picked up a point against Leatherhead, we face another tough fixture in the form of the Rocks who were a National League South side as recently as 2018.
And, after losing 3-1 to Bishop’s Stortford on the opening day, Dom is aware of the threat they pose. He said: “It’s a massive challenge. They are a really established club in this league and have been been in the top half for the majority of the last six or seven years.”
He continued: “They have some real threats, some really, really good forward players that can cause us problems but we’re just going to enjoy it and try and improve on Saturday’s performance, or put in a performance as close to that as possible.
“In the first two or three months, we just don’t know what to expect, we can prepare but we can’t get a handle or a gauge on what the league is like.”
The two sides haven’t faced each other since 2016 in which the Yellows fell to a 3-0 Sussex Senior Cup defeat. Tonight’s game will be the first league meeting in just under nine years, with the Hornets coming out on top in their last game in 2010, winning 5-1.
Josh James is expected to return, having been absent on Saturday, while Harry Mills and Harvey Sparks remain out of the squad with the former still recovering from an injury, and the latter being away.
The match kicks-off at 7.45pm at Nyewood Lane, PO20 2TY. Admission is £12 for adults, £10 for over 65s, and £5 for both under 18s and students with a valid ID.
