Horsham wowed a 1,000 plus shirt-sleeved crowd by securing an impressive 3-1 victory over Sky Bet Division Two Crawley Town this afternoon as the club officially opened its new Camping World Community Stadium. The Hornets opened the scoring on 32 minutes when Chris Smith converted a pass from Harry Mills but the advantage lasted just three minutes before Reece Grego-Cox blasted the ball home from the edge of the area.
The Reds enjoyed the better of the opening stages of the second half but fell behind again when Kieran Lavery converted from the spot before adding his second of the game with a fine, curling, shot. Josh James produced several fine saves for the Hornets, and Charlie Harris cleared off the line, but Dom Di Paola’s side ran out convincing winners against a Crawley side that fielded a number of trialists.
