Dom Di Paola received the news he expected today, but didn’t want, with Charlie Harris ruled out for the rest of the season. The former Eastbourne Borough midfielder, who has been one of the Hornets’ many stand-out performers this season, suffered cartilage damage during the recent clash with Ramsgate and will require surgery which is expected to keep him sidelined for two to three months. “I feel for him” said Di Paola. “He’s been brilliant for us this season but one reckless challenge and he’s out. People wonder why I get so angry when things like this go unpunished but we’re now going to be without one of our most influential midfielders at a very important time for us and the player himself is going to be faced with costs of around £5-6k for the operation and consultation, not to mention loss of earnings from football. Thankfully its not a major op but these sort of things need around two or three months’ recovery so hopefully he’ll be fit and ready to start pre-season training with us in the summer.”
