Horsham U11s suffered their first defeat to a physically strong Worthing Dynamos Red side. The first half started positively with the young Hornets playing confident passing football and creating chances. Jack McMillan was brought down in the box on fifteen minutes and the referee pointed to the spot. The resulting penalty from Harrison Jones was well struck but equally well saved by the Dynamos ‘keeper. Jack continued to be industrious on the right and was fouled again in the box minutes later but nothing further was given. The game was evenly balanced through the first half which ended even.

The second half started brightly for Dynamos, who scored after three minutes of the restart. The midfield battleground featured Dylan and Charlie Little’s game-long challenge to contain a skilful twenty-five for Dynamos. A second for Worthing was scored on twenty minutes but the Hornets didn’t drop their heads. Dan Baxter added some late attacking strength down the left and Horsham started to apply pressure. With one minute to go, Harry Long was fouled again in the box resulting in another penalty. Harry stepped up and confidently scored, only to have the penalty disallowed for encroachment. The retaken penalty hit the left upright and fell kindly for the ‘keeper to scramble the ball away. The final whistle was blown seconds later leaving the U11 side frustrated at the missed opportunities.
