The U11s made the trip down to Worthing for their first game together as a team after a short pre-season to take on AFC Worthing. With no idea of the opposition’s ability, they set up the way they have been practicing. The team started off with most of the possession and, after 15 minutes, Charlie Little found Dan Baxter with an exquisite through ball of which Dan calmly slotted home under the on rushing goalkeeper. Half-time came very quickly with Horsham having scored two. Substitutions were made and within a few minutes of the re-start it soon to be three. The second half saw a flurry of goals including hat-tricks from Alfie Russell and Jack York. The team’s tactical corners were confusing the home side and more goals followed. The next objective was to keep a clean sheet with the team recycling the ball and keeping possession. The final whistle was blown with the team scoring 11 but, more importantly, playing very attractive football and enjoying their start at Horsham FC
Next week we go into the Emerald Cup matches looking to win the club’s first silverware of the season.
Great performance by the squad!
