Horsham produced a fine team performance as they dominated lowly Worthing United Colts, running out 8-0 winners. However, the winning margin might have been far greater were it not for some wasteful finishing. Max Warren, who was a threat throughout with his pace and crossing ability, opened the scoring after showing great close control in the box. Joe Stevens, who also impressed in a central midfield role, struck a beautiful second from outside the box. Zach Barnett swept home a third and Warren added a fourth before the break. It was a quiet afternoon for ‘keeper Will Scurr as United struggled to break through Horsham’s confident defensive line. Ben Embling was excellent at left back and exploited any opportunity to go forward, whilst Isaac Small, Tom Matthews and captain Max Morris comfortably dealt with Worthing’s strikers.

After the break, Lewis Bridle made a string of typically robust tackles and Josh Buttle was faultless at right back as Horsham went in search of more goals. Barnett converted a fine cross from Stevens, before Nico Massimo showed his vision to pick out Zain Beg, who finished with precision. Massimo then scored himself, although he’ll be one of several players disappointed not to have added to his tally, before Stevens bagged his brace in the final minutes. Next week sees Amber in cup action, where manager Tony Massimo will be hoping the team’s superb form continues against their friends at Horsham Green.
