U13 Amber reaped the benefits of some hard work by Barry Wright and his wife to get their Arun & Chichester League match played, scoring a late goal to beat Worthing Town Red 4-3 at Gorings Mead on Sunday. The Hornets had led 2-0 at the break but needed a 90th minute goal to secure the points an inflict a first league defeat of the campaign upon their visitors. Zain Beg, Leighton Read, Zachary Barnett and Sammy Henderson scored the goals.
The U12s were another to avoid the washout but their County Cup tie with AS Eastbourne only just passed a pitch inspection. Both sides tried to play some good football in the sticky conditions but it was Eastbourne, under the guidance of former Horsham first team manager Anthony Storey, who go through to the fourth round despite Nathan Jones finding the net for the Hornets in a 2-1 defeat.
The U11s were helped by two own goals as they kept up their impressive run at Worthing Dynamos, with Harry Lawson and Jacob Prescott also on target for the young Hornets who have yet to taste defeat in the Douglas Cup.
Sadly the U16s were less fortunate, as their match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch while the U13s had no game.
