Arun & Chichester League Division A
A fine all-round display ensured Horsham Amber romped to a comfortable victory at Gorings Mead. Captain Sam Henderson produced a peerless performance, scoring five, with four coming courtesy of unstoppable drives from outside the box. Zain Beg opened the scoring with a tidy finish before Henderson stepped in with a quick-fire hat-trick, the second a beautiful dinked finish from ten yards. Zach Barnett bagged a brace before half-time, his first owing to superb wing play by Joe Stephens. The visitors threatened on several occasions, but composed defensive displays by Max Morris, Isaac Small and Tom Matthews kept Rustington at bay. After the break, Beg scored twice more for his hat-trick, the second owing much to unselfish play by Joe Simpkin. Horsham’s other prolific marksman was sacrificed on the wing for much of the game, but Simpkin grabbed the one opportunity that did come his way. Will Walton looked comfortable in a defensive central role and deserved his goal, before Nico Massimo poked home from close range after excellent work by Morris. Rustington never gave up and grabbed a deserved consolation in the dying minutes. With Horsham’s back line beginning to gel – and Small proving a revelation at right back – Amber will be looking to climb up the table.
