The U11s (pictured above) have secured the club’s first silverware of the 2017/18 campaign after winning the Autumn Coral Cup, in which they won all of their five matches (including last Sunday’s ‘walkover’ victory against Midhurst). A spectacular overhead ‘scissor kick’ by Harry Lawson was the pick of Sunday’s goals, with Theo Imperiale and Jacob Pescott also getting themselves on the scoresheet at home to Selsey. Ben Pugh has put together a good, exciting, squad this season and the congratulations from all at Horsham Youth goes out to Ben and his players on winning the cup.
Its not often that you’re left disappointed at making it through to the next round of a knockout competition but that’s how the players of our U12s, U13 Amber and U16s felt on Sunday as their respective opponents were unable to field a side for their Arun & Chichester League Challenge Cup ties. On a perfect day for football, the frustrated lads were left to put their feet up with the only consolation coming in the knowledge that they automatically qualify for the next round. There was some cup action, though, as U13 Green returned from their trip to Midhurst & Easebourne with a fantastic 6-2 win where Cameron Stevens helped himself to four goals and Sam McMinn chipped in with the other two, his first for the Hornets. That success for Ian Scott’s side sets up a mouthwatering quarter-final clash with Tony Massimo’s Amber side, guaranteeing Horsham at least one side in the semi-finals. The match will be played at Gorings Mead on Sunday 3rd December.
