Horsham Amber will hope to move on quickly from a poor performance against Worthing Town Red. Having narrowly beaten Sunday’s opponents to the Under 12 title last year, a close contest was anticipated. However, lacklustre Horsham never recovered from a sluggish start and Worthing ran out deserving 7-2 winners. The home side could barely believe it as they took a 3-0 lead within fifteen minutes, using pace from midfield to exploit gaps across the Horsham defence. Only Sam Henderson showed the necessary desire, tackling back and driving forward with purpose before he succumbed to an injury. Horsham rallied in the second half, with Max Warren heading home, Zain Beg smartly slotting in a second and sub Ben Embling proving effective on the wing. But Horsham will need to be far more competitive against the top sides if they’re to repeat last year’s success.

Horsham: George Edgley, Isaac Small, Max Morris, Nico Massimo, Josh Buttle, Tom Matthews, Sam Henderson, Leighton Read, Max Warren, Joe Simpkin, Zain Beg.
Subs: Will Scurr, Lewis Bridle, Ben Embling, Zach Barnett
