Arun & Chichester League Challenge Cup

Horsham Youth U12 travelled to Lancing Rangers for this Challenge Cup fixture and started really well, playing the ball around and testing the ‘keeper early on. After some good interplay, Denis Light crossed for Stan Berry to open the scoring for Horsham, this was followed up with his second goal after Jack New had played a great through ball from midfield. This relaxed Horsham and it was not long before Raul Barter scored after some great efforts from Jasper Butterfill were kept out. Raul then snatched his second goal (Horsham’s fourth) after Jack played a delightful first time ball for him to slide past the ‘keeper. Raul then got his first Horsham hat-trick when Cameron Cox provided a perfect cross after a great overlapping run on the left side to make the half-time score 0-5 to Horsham.

The Hornets were switching personnel and tactics frequently to test new formations and, with the second half in full swing, Nathan Jones found Finley Duneclift wide right for him to provide a great cross to Denis who scored our sixth. Jasper then got on the score sheet when another great wide ball from Raul found Finley who again crossed early for Jasper to finish. Stan then got his hat-trick from the penalty spot after a driving run from Finley was abruptly stopped as he got into the Lancing penalty area. More good passing saw Raul feed Jasper, who got one-on-one with the ‘keeper to slip the ball into the net for his second goal and it was not long until Jasper got his hat-trick. Finley provided another excellent cross that found Jasper to finish superbly. Horsham were not finished as Nathan Jones then provided a great cross field pass for Finley to control and fire past the Lancing keeper for his first and a Horsham eleventh. Final score 11-0 to Horsham
