Arun & Chichester League Division A

A bright and sunny Sunday morning brought a well contested match between Horsham and Bognor’s U16s, with both sides playing some good passing football. The Rocks just edged the match in the first twenty minutes and goalkeeper Matthew Forrester made some fine saves on his Hornets debut. Having survived the early pressure, Horsham began to push forward and create chances and were the first to put the ball into the net through Kieran Bonner, after some nice build up play. Now the dominant side, the Hornets didn’t really need half-time to come and had to settle for the one goal lead at the interval.

Bognor scored early in the second half and were piling on the pressure, but the Horsham defence held strong and the hosts gradually started to take control for the remainder of the match but the second goal just evaded them, although not for the want of trying, and the match played out to  a 1-1 draw.

Manager Adam and  coach Simon said they were very pleased with the performance of the squad. With lads missing from the team through  injury and unavailability, and only having one substitute, the squad was down to the bare bones yet the lads rallied together and gave 100% . There were lots of positives to take from the match, and things to work on in the next week, but they felt they were unlucky not to come away with all three points.
