Horsham Youth Secretary Annie Raby would like to thank everyone who turned out for the Annual Presentation Night last Saturday night. It was great to see so many people; parents, players, managers, committee members Jeannie, Howard, Roger, Ray, Mark, Janet, Ivan and Darren and Club Chairman Kevin Borrett with his wife Judy all supporting the Youth Section of the Club.

Mark Barrett took to the mic to MC the evening and, after a thank you speech from Kevin, the awards got under way with the Under 11s. Manager Paul Brown was up on stage first, with a run down of the season, with the Supporters’ Player of the Year award going to Jasper Butterfil, Charlie Brown collecting the Players’ Player vote and Cameron Joste named the Manager’s POTY.

Under 12 Green Manager Ian Scott, and Coach Ellis McKay, gave out medals to all the squad for all their hard work over the season. The individual awards went to goalkeeper Louis Masters (Players’ Player), Adam Fitter picked up the Manager’s POTY trophy with the parents’ vote for Clubman of the year going to Zach Barnett.

The first part of the evening was concluded with the presentation of the Cover Cup for the club’s ‘Unsung Hero’. This trophy, sponsored by Covers Builders Merchants of Horsham, is presented every season and every year there are many candidates as so many people help behind the scenes but there can only be one winner and, this year, it went to U12 Amber team representative Maria Henderson for holding the side together after a very difficult year for the whole squad with the tragic loss of Tony’s wife Kate. Maria went over and above to make sure everyone was okay and managed to keep the side on track. Maria was presented the trophy from club Chairman, Kevin. Speaking after the evening, Maria said was proud and honoured to receive the award and joins previous winners Mark Wells and Howard Frogley.

After a break for nibbles and pizza the evening started again with Horsham U12 Amber. Tony praised his coaching staff and squad for a fantastic season and  awards were given as follows: Supporters’ Player Sam Henderson, Max Warren Manager’s POTY, Players’ POTY was jointly won by Sam Henderson and Max Morris, with Ben Embling named Most Improved Player.

Adam Hartley, U15s Manager, stepped up to thank every one of the lads for an incredible first season at Horsham youth, winning the league title unbeaten at the first attempt after pulling a team together in six weeks. Adam said that he couldn’t have asked for any more from the team and the parents. Goalkeeper James Marsh took the Parents’ award, Players’ Player went to Ryan Atalay while Harry Kent was the recipient of the Manager’s POTY award.

The evening ended with the mammoth Raffle which raised £181.00 for the Youth section, which paid for the hall hire and pizzas on the night.

“Thank you ALL for a great night, with around 160 people through the door on the evening. Special thanks to the morning team of Howard, Nikki and Diesel, who helped set up all the tables and chairs and everyone who helped pack away everything on the evening. Too many to mention individually but your help was really appreciated. Thanks, too, to Mark who did a great job as our MC for the evening.

Thank you to all the sponsors who make it possible for us to play. Season 2016/17 done and dusted and now we look forward to a new one!”
