Horsham Youth are celebrating their third success of the campaign after U12 Amber secured the Arun & Chichester Youth League Division ‘A’ title yesterday. This was a fantastic achievement by the lads, who won twelve of their fourteen matches to take the title by a point from runners-up Worthing Town Red.
After last weekend’s narrow win over leaders Worthing Town Red, the Hornets knew that victory over visiting Felpham Colts Youth would see them pip the south coast side to the title and their cause was helped when Felpham arrived with a squad of just eight players, due to the unavailability of several members of their squad. The visitors played their hearts out, though, yet found themselves 5-0 down at the break. Although they knew they had the match and the title in the bag at this stage, the Hornets played the second half with pride, making a few changes so everyone could enjoy the day. Felpham defended like Trojans in the second half, restricting their hosts to just two more goals, making the final score 7-0. It was a great performance from the whole squad, with the goals coming from Sammy Henderson (3), Josh Buttle, Joe Stevens, Jack Candfield and an ‘own goal’.
Horsham: George Edgeley, Tom Matthews, Josh Buttle, Nico Massimo, Sam Henderson, Max Morris, Max Warren, Joe Stevens, Isaac Small Subs: Jack Candfield, Ben Embling, Lewis Bridle
Tony Massimo and his coaches are already looking to next season and have a trial date set for Sunday April 23rd at The Holbrook Club. So if you think you have what it takes to play for Horsham Youth’s U13s in 2017/18, please contact Tony on 01403 218748. U13 Green will be trialling in May, on a date to be announced.
The title win comes on top of the U11s’ Fraser League triumph at the end of last year and the U15s’ successful capture of the Arun & Chichester Youth League Division C last month.
