Horsham U12 Amber set up a Sussex County Cup Final date with Hove Park Colts after a fine 6-1 victory over Worthing United Youth today. There was a scare for the Hornets before kick-off when goalkeeper George Edgeley picked up an injury that ruled him out of the game but the squad pulled together and, over the course of the match, three different players took over between the posts. At just 2-1 at the interval, this promised to be a tight contest before the Hornets pulled away in the second half, scoring four more goals without reply. Horsham’s goalscorers were Isaac Small (2), Nico Massimo, Joe Simpkin, Max Morris and Jack Candfield, with Ethan Lloyd notching Worthing’s sole reply. The final will be played on Sunday 12th March at a venue to be confirmed.
Sadly there will be no cup final date for the U11s, though, as they went down 4-1 at Worthing Strikers, Jack Willis netting Horsham’s consolation goal.
The U15s maintained their 100% Arun & Chichester League record with an excellent 4-1 win away to title rivals Selsey and now need to win one of their remaining two matches to be crowned champions. Ryan Atalay and Callum Jones put Horsham 2-0 up by half-time before Jake Relleen extended the lead in the second half. Selsey threatened a comeback when they reduced the arrears but an own goal settled any nerves to secure Horsham’s tenth successive league win.
The U12 Green were without a match this weekend.
