Horsham U15s 9 Shoreham & Adur 3
Arun & Chichester League
Horsham have made a habit of starting games slowly this season and against Shoreham this was the case once again. The lads’ performance in this latest Arun & Chichester League match mirrored the weather on this late November morning, starting off cold then warming up as the winter sun broke through. It was, though, against the run of play that Shoreham opened the scoring with their first attack of the half, catching the Horsham defence sleeping to go 1-0 up with a clinical finish. This seemed to be the tonic to wake Horsham from their slumber and they dominated the next seventy minutes with some wonderful two touch attacking football. This created a great swathe of chances, of which nine were converted!
Having recovered from the shock of that early setback, the boys played some great passing football and outfoxed the visitors with pace and strength to go 6-1 ahead only for a lapse of concentration to invite Shoreham to score their second with another well taken effort.
A few half-time tweaks, and effective substitutions throughout the second half, saw the Hornets score another three goals to take the side to the top of the table with five wins from five league matches, and still in the cup.
There were solid performances throughout the team in what was a great team effort, however a special mention is given to Kieran Bonner who netted five goals. The players are developing into a strong, well rounded team with lots of character.
