Two goals inside the opening half hour saw Horsham crash out of the FA Cup in an incident-packed Preliminary Round replay at Goring’s Mead in which little went right for the hosts. Having gifted Deal their early goals, the Hornets were denied first by the woodwork and then a linesman’s flag as they battled to get back into the game before half-time. Joe Shelley had a second half penalty saved by Chris Waymark, just one of a series of fine stops by the visiting ‘keeper, and although Kieron Pamment managed to reduce the arrears there was no further addition to the scoring despite both sides being reduced to ten men in the closing stages.
