There will be some familiar faces in the Hornets line-up for the new season, despite wholesale changes to the squad that suffered relegation to the Southern Combination League in April.
Although only Tom Gilbert survives from last season, former Hornets Charlie Farmer, Billy Franks, Niall O’Hagan and Evan Archibald have all agreed to return to the club as has the evergreen Mark Knee, voted Horsham supporters’ Player of the Year in 2009. Peacehaven & Telscombe captain Ashley Jones will be looking to lend his experience to the side, having won league and cup medals with the Magpies during a fifteen year spell that culminated in him leading the East Sussex club to a Ryman League Division One and Senior Cup double in 2013/14, and he will be joined by a host of players with plenty of Sussex County League experience between them.
As well as Farmer, Archibald, O’Hagan and Franks, Jordan Clark, Rob Boddy, Alex Duncan, Kevin Keehan, Joe Shelley, Darren Boswell and Shaun Charles all played their part in di Paola’s all-conquering East Preston side of the past few seasons while Kieron Pamment collected a County League winners medal with Littlehampton Town last season, having helped East Grinstead secure promotion to the Ryman League in 2013/14.
Di Paola hopes to complete his signings later this week.
Full bios on all the new arrivals will be provided before the start of the season.
